Shot in the heart of modern-day Vancouver’s Middle Eastern community, Kayan is a multifarious story about belonging, loyalty and love. Hanin, a Lebanese single mother of two, struggles to keep her restaurant, Kayan, afloat. With a failed marriage behind her, two teenage children and a chal- lenging relationship with a younger man, Hanin has no choice but to find new ways to make money and forge ahead. Unexpected revelations in her private life coincide with complication in the lives of her employees and clients.
