QU'ILS REPOSENT EN REVOLTE (DES FIGURES DE GUERRES I)

Calais is a borderland, a limbo in which many immigrants trying to reach England are forced to live. Stripped of all their rights, treated like criminals, reduced to being “purely bodies” or “naked lives,” these men and women become mere figures of war. Sylvain George’s eye follows them with complicity and anger, capturing their attempts to be nor- mal and dignified despite the degrading situation in which they live. “A necessary cry of revolt.” (Sylvain George)
