Successful opera diva Lyubov decides to leave Russia for Vienna, but not before taking one last trip to her hometown, the remote Youriev-Polskii, with her teenage son Andrey. Arriving from a busy European capital, they are outsiders in the small town and wander aimlessly through its streets – until Andrey mysteriously disappears. “A story about a strong woman who is trying to break the thick wall of her egoism when placed in an unexpected situation. Kirill Serebrennikov - Biography
One of the most acclaimed Russian theatrical directors today, Kirill Serebrennikov was born in Rostov-on-Don in 1969 and graduated in Physics from Rostov State University. During his studies, he directed stage plays in a small local theater and after shooting the TV film Rostov Papa moved to Moscow. There, he directed numerous stage plays and television series, including Bed Scenes, which screened in the Visions sidebar of the Toronto Film Festival. His debut film Playing the Victim received top honors at the Kinotaur and Rome International film festivals, and was also selected at Rotterdam and Tribeca. In 2009 he directed an episode of the omnibus Crush, which was shown at the Venice Film Festival.
