The experimental form of this film visually loosens the boundaries it explores and aesthetically overcomes their rigid regulations. "The research begins in Germany, with its history of East/West division, and then moves along to its inner borders. Like in a ‘road movie’ following curiosity, the view soon spirals outwards to all EU member states and their outposts. The different temperatures and seasons and weather conditions are felt, as are the specific atmospheres of Europe's ‘hard and soft’ borders. Camera and microphone are used to explore and question reality. Sometimes synchronous, sometimes asynchronous superimpositions of the visible and audible oscillate between documentary and moments of revelation. The analogue black and white recording in combination with sound is on the one hand objective, direct and real - and on the other hand abstract, surreal and subjective.” (T. Wiesinger)
Telemach Wiesinger, born in 1968 in Bielefeld, Germany, studied Visual Communication at Universität Gesamthochschule Kassel, and took a Master of Arts in 1995. His multiple award winning 16mm analogue film works are presented in solo programs or performances and on international festivals and venues. Wiesinger is also visiting lecturer at universities and art schools.
