In a film school, memory is a value: attending, getting to know, engaging with the history of film language are necessary prerequisites to develop the students' expressive capacity. It is equally essential to give them the opportunity to experiment and guarantee protected spaces in which they can risk.
It is also for these reasons that at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia the syllabi of the editing course, in synergy with the sound course, include a workshop dedicated to the creative reuse of archive footage in which second-year students are invited to design and freely develop short original stories based on existing images and sounds.
