NON ESSERE CATTIVO (Italia, 2015,100’) di Claudio Caligari
With the presence of Simone Isola, Roberta Mattei, Giordano Meacci
Ten years from the death of the director of Toxic Love and The Scent of the Night, his third and last feature Don't Be Bad (released posthumously) makes a comeback on our Piazza. “When you look at present-day outskirts and suburbs, you’d think that the destinies and Christological endings of characters such as Accattone, Mamma Roma’s Ettore, La ricotta’s Stracci, not to mention Toxic Love’s Cesare – who all died like novel Christs – would ring false and incongruous today. All religious dimension is now lost; Accattone goes to dance clubs, uses, and deals in cocaine and pills. If things do ever turn for the best, the most we can hope for is an ending reminiscent of Rocco and His Brothers, which sealed Ciro’s destiny as a labourer.” (Claudio Caligari)
