FAR FROM THE LIGHT OF DAY / RAHOK ME'ORO SHEL YOM
Francia 2025, 26’

With the presence of the director

Two lovers are lying on a bed. One them is asleep; the other is awake. One is Palestinian; the other, Israeli. We hear his voice. Immersed in a Jarmanesque blue for most of its duration, the film is a dark ode to the beloved but also a sad description of what it is and what it feels like being far from the homeland, where the war rages on as the night goes on without end. A torrent of words in Hebrew, both an inherited and chosen language, to resist the deluge of images.

A film director and editor, Yotam Ben-David grew up in a village near Jerusalem and is currently based in Paris. Often inspired by the lives of his loved ones and his own biography, his films seek the sublime and poetic in the everyday and in the bitter political history of his native country. His works as an editor or director have been selected and awarded at international festivals including Berlinale, Cannes, Sarajevo, Visions du Réel, FIDMarseille, Laceno d’oro and others. He is currently at work on his first feature-length film, shot in Palestine and supported by the French CNC.
