Against the gritty backdrop of Charleroi, the film is inspired by the events of the so-called Dutroux affair. It depicts the disappearance of two girls, an event which shakes the population and unleashes the media’s frenzy. Paul Chartier, a young, idealistic gendarme, embarks on an obsessive, solitary manhunt.
Fabrice du Welz is a Belgian director and screenwriter known for acclaimed horror and thriller films like Calvaire (2004) and Alleluia (2014), which both screened at the Cannes Film Festival. His notable filmography also includes the psychological thrillers Adoration (2019) and Inexorable (2021).
