Loosely based on Baronciani’s graphic novel Una storia a fumetti, this film builds on the work begun with Pavese’s novel. The game of mirrors between the young characters and literature shifts from the elaborate language of the novel to the near-total absence of words in comics. It becomes a sort of storyboard of emotional situations and a roadmap of the places in an Adriatic small town.
Mauro Santini (Fano, 1965) makes films with a strong diary-like approach, taking care of photography, editing, and sound. The Videodiari series includes Da lontano and Flòr da Baixa. In addition to several other works presented in international festivals, he is committed to teaching in schools, the breeding ground of his latest film production.
The film Le feste senza fine, which is included in the festival programme, demonstrates the ongoing support of the Pesaro Film Festival as main partner for the films made by the Liceo Artistico Mengaroni, and conceived and directed by Mauro Santini, in the framework of the Calls promoted by Cinema e Immagini per la Scuola.
Along with Le belle estati, Le feste senza fine forms a diptych exploring fresh approaches to literary texts. This will soon become a trilogy, when the new film project underway is completed by 2026.
This premiere confirms the collaboration of “Fuori Orario cose (mai) viste” with the Pesaro Film Festival as well as its interest in these films: both Le belle estati and Le feste senza fine will be presented on the night of June 21st, and will later be available on the Rai Play platform.
