“It is complicated to know where oral storytelling touches history. On the one hand, the voices of the women of the family that create the myth of a barely 17-year-old hero. On the other hand, official papers, signed books, and letters that reveal a kid and his fears. That he didn’t want to. Halfway, the grey area between myth and reality. How to face this space formally? The film is about how words, places, and faces are lost. Furthermore, we go deep into a filmic space more oriented towards sensations, towards darkness and dimness, where the designed audio makes us part of unreality. Xacio Baño (Spain 1983) studied film and specialized in film editing. He produced, wrote, and directed several short films. Trote/Trot, his first fiction feature film, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018. Deep Waters is the middle film in a trilogy about the handwritten word, between Echo (2015), focused on the personal diaries that a woman wrote for over 25 years, and Regards. Greetings. Hugs., a film about communication via postcards scheduled to shoot in 2021.
