Thelyia Petraki

BELLA

Greece 2020 , 24’

Departing from the exchange of letters found by Thelya Petraki, she pieced together a short film in which the so-called found footage (including period videos, home movies, and TV footage) combine seamlessly with live actors filming. The latter was painstakingly organized to recreate the atmosphere, almost the feel of the 1980’s, the decade in which the story plays out. A powerful heroine carries through daily hardships, a tormented private sphere, and a historical background that is to bring about deep geopoliti cal changes, whose s cope perhaps we still barel y grasp. This projec t is bound to become a feature-length film, in which more room will be given to the male point view (the woman’s absent partner in the short).
