PEDRAS INSTÁVEIS / UNSTABLE ROCKS

At the presence of the director
“Unstable Rocks took five years to make. In the beginning, Nuno Barroso and I just went for a plein air trip with our analogue cameras. The rhythm of the film is determined by the Bolex camera and is rather slow and contemplative, aligning the film with the contemporary idea of slowing down. During the excursions [across numerous Portuguese landscapes], we came across a kind of a mad project by a medical doctor in Castelo Branco, a park with several variations of large-scale stone compositions. We were there at the start of construction and found a large homemade sign bearing a warning: PEDRAS INSTÁVEIS. Finding this park, with its sign, set the mood for the film, which is intended to reflect on the times in which we live.” (Ewelina Rosińska)
