“In this film, there are two characters who are never shown, or at least not in a conventional way: a father and a son. The title, G, is the initial of the father's name. It works both as a fragment and as memory. In the film, shot in Mini-DV format, I try to expose the relationship between son and father, connecting two different worlds, with one linked to earthly aspects, and the other one to spiritual ones. The variations of light captured by the stretch of water and the camera offer the traces of an intimate and mysterious encounter.
The titling of my films often involves the use of individual letters, but also of one or more graphic signs. The use of individual letters in the titling of my films does not necessarily designate a series. This also applies to G.” (Ignazio Fabio Mazzola)
