Piera Detassis goes back over the education of the male in Italian film proposing words, images, and scenes through a critical lens that casts new light on decades of representation of a certain kind of masculinity.
Piera Detassis, president and artistic director of the Fondazione Accademia del Cinema Italiano that gives out the David di Donatello Awards, graduated with a thesis on the film aesthetics of Galvano della Volpe. As a journalist, from 1997 to 2019 she was ed-itor-in-chief of the magazine Ciak. Since 2019, she is Editor-at-large of the Hearst Magazine Italia publishing conglomerate for Cinema & Entertainment. She was artistic director of the Festa del Cinema di Roma (2008-2011) and then President of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma (2015-2018).
